It all starts with an IDEA.

I am running for mayor of Princeton because I have personally witnessed the missed opportunities and unclear vision within our community and leadership. Public service and strategic leadership are what I do, and it is my intent to bring innovation, transparency, and integrity to the role of mayor, and to rebuild trust in local government for Princeton.  Through my four-pronged IDEA, I provide clear priorities that are actionable, invite community input, and that you can hold me accountable to. Small town charm and reasonable taxes aren't big asks for Princeton, but it is understandable that new ideas and change can make folks nervous, and raise concerns about how we would fund any new project or service that would benefit the community. These concerns are why I am committed to remaining accessible and engaged during this campaign, and available to the community when I begin my term as mayor.

Please read on to learn more about my big IDEA for Princeton, check out my About section to learn more about my background, and stay tuned to the Blog section and Facebook for updates on more topics related to Princeton and city government.

Additionally, I would appreciate your input and feedback on how we're doing as a city. Submit a comment on the Submit Comments page and I will personally respond in a timely manner.

What's the big IDEA?

Invest Smart

I will prioritize fiscal responsibility and strategic municipal investment to ensure Princeton's long-term stability and growth.

• Reduce the debt burden, maintain a high bond rating, and pursue alternative funding models
• Foster corporate partnerships for innovative, mutually beneficial opportunities
• Standardize annual grant pursuits to make capital projects easier to afford

Develop Opportunities

Economic development goes beyond new building projects. I am committed to growing our ability to sustain ourselves as a community, and to offer better opportunities for community members to work and grow, locally.

• Revisiting the city's Economic Development Plan and empowering the Economic Development Authority to create long-term, strategic growth for both small and large businesses, locally
• Partnering more strategically with the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism to attract new businesses, and retain current businesses in our community
• Exploring financial programs to support and grow local entrepreneurs

Engage Community

In order to develop a sense of community, everyone must feel included and their opinions are heard. I am committed to helping all community members to feel ownership over the future of Princeton

• Provide consistent, published office hours for the mayor to allow the public access
• Solicit input and feedback from the community on a regular basis
• Increase the city’s strategic partnership with the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism to develop new and more frequent community celebrations

Accountability First

Building trust requires transparency and integrity. I will maintain clear objectives and communication in  municipal services and operations to serve our community with confidence.

• Pilot a new open forum model during city meetings, including extended time for each member of the public to speak, and time for response from the mayor, council, or city staff
• Publish regular reports on the progress of city initiatives and strategies
• Address barriers to transparency and public communication on city digital forums (social media and website)
